Surgery-2.jpg (263668 bytes) Bayhead Dental Practice has two of the seven surgeries on the ground floor of the clinic and there are a further five surgeries upstairs which are used for teaching.

A dental technician visits the practice daily and once a week attends morning and afternoon to allow for relines and additions.

Crowns, bridges and veneers are sent to a variety of mainland laboratories with a return within the week.

The local Western Isles Hospital is a well equipped general hospital, with a visiting consultant oral surgeon and orthodontist.

There are weekly practice meetings to keep everyone informed as well as regular training and discussion sessions.

The efficient administration and the fully computerised patient record system ensures smooth running and less paper work for the dentists. Automatic text messages and phone calls are made to patients to remind them of appointments.

Family Facilities

We do encourage all the family to attend. It allows the dentist the opportunity to explain to parents the development of their child's teeth, and the dentist can often detect patterns of dental disease within families. Many dental conditions are hereditary or dietary based so advice is relevant to all the family.

We are also pleased to answer any questions parents have about looking after their own or their children's teeth.

Dental Hygienist

A dental Hygienist specialises mainly in the treatment of periodontal or gum disease. Your dentist may refer you for one or more visits to the Hygienist, who will scale your teeth and give you personal instruction on how you can best keep your teeth and gums healthy.
